Jacob Boehme (1575—1624)
The Three Principles of the Divine Essence
Volumes 1 & 2
After publishing his first book, Aurora, in 1612, local officials in the city of Görlitz, including the city’s Lutheran pastor, censored Boehme, forbidding him from writing anything further on the subject of divinity. But after several years Boehme felt himself compelled by the Holy Spirit to write again. The Three Principles of the Divine Essence, published in 1619, is Jacob Boehme’s second book. John Sparrow’s English translation, included here, is from 1648.
