Nonnus Bibliography

Nonnus was a studio of artists who worked in close collaboration actively producing books and music from 2008–2013. Their goal was to remain intellectually curious and thoroughly critical. Nonnus publications sought to problematize the relationship between contemporary art, culture, and traditional religion.

Nonnus Studio intentionally and incidentally challenged print and post-print culture through their processes of writing and making. Their publication projects were posted on the Nonnus website on a rolling basis at the domains nonnus.com and nonnus.org. The publisher’s activity was strictly speaking made public through online means, but the publications themselves were never explicitly marketed, advertised, or announced to the public. A work’s publication date has, in the past, been determined by the exact date that a book goes to market. Nonnus publications fell into new territory, questioning when a work is officially “published” if it isn’t marketed.

The Nonnus Bibliography is a comprehensive list of completed projects, completed projects that were never released on the website, overwritten projects, and projects that have been subsumed into new titles. Nonnus preeminently utilized hybrid forms like digital books and print-on-demand paperbacks and blurred the conventional lines between what constitutes an update, a revision, and an edition.
